Photosmith is excited to be part of FotoFocus 2014, a biennial month-long celebration of photography. Our studio is exhibiting the work of five Ohio photographers, Brad Smith, Suzanne Fleming-Smith (that's us!) and three guest artists, Tad Barney of Milford, Ohio, Tim Creamer of Athens, Ohio, and Jeff Harber of Columbus, Ohio. All the work is shot with the phone application, Hipstamatic. Hipstamatic offers users different "lens" and "film" combos to choose from to create pieces with a wide variety of looks. The photographer chooses from his or her virtual kit of "lenses" and "films" the same as if he or she had a bag with a fixed prime, 70-200 zoom, or Lensbaby and Tri-X film, Ilford infrared, or Kodachrome. However, someone did take our Kodachrome away despite our pleas. We all keep many tools at hand for different projects, using DSLR cameras and even film cameras from time to time. We love to experiment and play to see how our tools can best serve what we want to create, and the Hipstamatic app has provided us with a new way to make pictures we each see in our mind and feel in our heart. We hope you will come out and see our exhibition!
Open House October 12, 2014 Noon - 5 and M-F 10am -5pm most days and by appointment. We also offer student tours to see a working studio space and gallery exhibition.
